The UK Space Agency’s ‘Launch UK’ programme endeavours to re-establish the UK’s satellite launch capability. Telespazio UK conducted a study, part funded by the UK Space Agency, into the viability of launch range control capability to support commercial spaceflight from the UK.
A consortium was formed to invest in a proposed Commercial Range Control Service to support UK Launch Sites, Launch Systems and Service Operators, with the potential to also address the global launch export market. The project formed the first stage in establishing the proposed service and giving the consortium the information it needed to consider investing in a proposed Commercial Range Control Service. The study resulted in a robust assessment of the user and system requirements, system architecture, operations concept, business case and an initial design and development plan.
