Chandra is a Senior Project Manager within the Ground Segment Systems teams at Telespazio UK, where she is responsible for delivering EO-based research, innovation and projects, having a focus on ESA-funded programmes. She has a PhD in Numerical & Marine Geophysics from Imperial College London and has worked on both upstream and downstream aspects during her time within the EO industry.
“I have enjoyed being the committee’s vice-chair for the last few years, and I am looking forward to leading the EOC group as chair. Coming into an ESA Ministerial Council year in 2025, and with the UK’s recent rejoining of the Copernicus programme, there is a lot of work to be done raising the profile of the EO industry within the UK and across Europe in this crucial time, which I look forward to doing,” said Chandra upon her appointment.
Chandra has an extensive range of experience within EO-based solutions, having worked on EO-based projects such as pure research projects, applications, data exploitation platforms and ground segments. She also has a passion for outreach and has worked with the Space Skills Alliance Group to move forward to ensure the space skills gap is addressed.
Colin Baldwin, Executive Director, UKspace, said: “Chandra will make an excellent Chair of UKspace’s EO Committee, building upon Ben Stern’s hard work. We are proud to be an industry-led association as this enables us to best understand and represent our members’ interests, and this is reliant upon our committee chairs, who are elected by their peers and make a substantial contribution to the sector on top of their company roles.”
