EarthCODE and EOEPCA+ at Living Planet Symposium 2025

This year at the ESA Living Planet Symposium (LPS25), two ESA projects led by Telespazio UK, EarthCODE and EOEPCA+, will be involved in the Open Science in the Making event, taking place throughout the week. This event will be promoting ESA’s Open Science policy, culminating in the Open Science Partnership Ceremony (taking place from 3.30pm-4pm on Thursday 26 June at Nexus Agora), with the ESA Director of EO Programmes, Simonetta Cheli, in attendance, alongside representatives of member states.

By providing tools, expertise and opportunities, EarthCODE’s main aim is to enable science teams to seamlessly adopt open science practices as part of their workflows, embedding FAIR and Open Science Principles into the scientific development process. By providing seamless access to commercial platform services and a wealth of community resources and tools, EarthCODE empowers scientists to collaborate, innovate and adhere to open research practices, driving the next wave of discovery In Earth Science.

During LPS25, highlights for EarthCODE-related events include:

EOEPCA+, is about unifying the fragmented cloud ecosystem for Ground Segment, EO Science, R&D and Applications. Its vision is to enhance interoperability between cloud-based data platforms for an open network of resources, achieved by enabling federation amongst EO cloud platform options by offering reusable Building Blocks for tailored environments. This project, which is also based on open-source principles, currently has 15 subcontractors from across Europe, working on 14 different Building Blocks such as Resource Discovery, Data Access, Workspace and Processing. Highlights for EOEPCA+-related events during LPS25 include:

There are also further opportunities with limited 1-to-1 sessions available through the ‘Open Science in the Making’ event to talk to both the EarthCODE and EOEPCA+ teams, running throughout the week. Be sure to follow the EarthCODE and EOEPCA+ pages for all the events happening taking place. We look forward to seeing you there!
